Default weird problem with my 99 EX

So here's what it's doing. Occasionally after it's been running (and it's at full running temp) and you go to start it it won't start. It just turns over as if it's not getting fuel or spark. If you wait anywhere from 5-10 mins. and you try again it'll fire right up. It's never done it in the mornings after sitting overnight, just after it's at full running temp, like if you run into the grocery store for 10-15 mins then come back out. Any ideas? It otherwise runs great.

I would stop by a parts store and have them check for codes. Post any codes on here.

You have to determine if you are missing spark or fuel when the car won't start. Do you have a timing light?

I have a 1999 EX and mines did this too. It would happen randomly but always after being used. It ended up being the main relay. I hope this info helps.

Sorry...forgot to say it's got the 2.3 4 cylinder. I ran by Autozone and they hooked it up and it had no stored codes. I didn't think there would be as the light never came on. I put a set of plugs and wires on it just to say I did. Bought the car used so I don't know how long those plugs and wires were on there. Plugs that came out actually looked pretty good though, and were gapped right at 44. I guess I just have to wait till it does it again so I can check for spark or fuel issues.

Mines is the VTEC 2.3 4 cylinder as well.
It was a good idea to replace the plugs and wires anyway since now you know when they were last replaced and is not that expensive to do.
If it happens again I would definitely look into the main relay.

Good luck.

I know - I shop at Autozone myself their pricing is weird, some items are cheaper than I can find anywhere and some are 2x - 3x higher than anywhere else.

Just like you said you are running again so that was worth a little extra.

Good job fixing your problem.
