Take your car to a parts store like autozone and have them scan for error code(s) and make sure you get the actual code. Post any codes you get on here. They start with the letter P and have four numbers, like P1234. That may help figure out the emissions problem on your car.

 

Yeah, I don't think that broken resonator can cause a CEL error. Really, it's just someplace for the air to flow through before it gets to the air filter.
