whining sound

Default whining sound

"I have a 2003 Honda accord EX V6 and its making a high pitch sound coming from engine or transmission it goes up in sound on acceleration and down on deceleration im not sure what this problem is I am mechanically inclined but cant figure the sound out??

could it be coming from a wheel bearing/hub assembly? have you checked the trans fluid?

possibly a belt driven accy. alternator, p/s pump, waterpump etc...could also be timing belt tensioner related.

ya I pretty much checked everything. it all point towards the trans and it was full of trans fluid and it use to do it just in the morning but now its doing when it warms up also

the V6 auto transmissions did have some issues. have you serviced it lately? how many miles on the car?

188,000 and no other than the regular oil change and filter we bought the car used last year from Honda dealer and it was fine up until this past winter then it started making that sound.

you could try a drain/refill using Honda trans fluid (don't use anything else) and see what happens. other than that, not much to do at this point. get any service records with it?

no records and true I don't think it would hurt anything by drain and refill
