Are you the original owner? How many miles? What your oil change interval? How thick of smoke cloud is it? A little is normal at idle anything more is an issue.

My questions was how often do you change your oil regularly. I can tell you this, changing the oil at a year interval is not good. Even if you don't hit the mileage you need to change it at least every 6 months. What you're describing is not good. what type of oil do you put in? Did it just start doing it. My 07 does it every once in a while mainly after I don't drive it for a while but only last a couple seconds after start up and it is a real light white smoke that you can barely see. It has 198k

When you said last July did you mean July 2019 or 2020. I have never heard of using 20w50 in an accord. Did it start smoking after you changed to 5w30 or before.

I too have had a oil light due to shortage a couple of times in the last few years and my oil change interval is every 7500 miles. All I do is add 4 3/4 qts with and additive every other change and haven't had the issue come back up.

I would stick to 5w20 and add liqui moly oil saver every other change (equals out to once a year) and you should be good. I have been using that additive in all my cars for years and never had an issue. I started using it because of a BMW I had with an N63 engine which was notorious for oil consumption. I never had the issue but a lot of others did. I figured me adding that additive from when the car was new saved me from the headaches everyone else had.

has the car overheated in the near past?? white smoke could be an indication of a blown head gasket ,, have you checked coolant for possible coolant leak? About the smell,
can you see any leaks at all in engine compartment ?? oil, coolant, etc etc
