Default Will not start until lock and unlock drivers door then runs?

I accidently switched off my car at DRIVE mode, then i switched to PARK mode. After few days I was unable to start my car early in the morning, there's no cranking sound but after i lock and unlock the door, i can start the car. I had been having the same problem every first time i start my car for the day. Could anyone can advise me what's wrong with my car? Your prompt advise will be much appreciated.

Is this on your 72 Pinto? Or maybe on your 67 VW?

I would agree that this sounds like something is up with the alarm. Is there a way for you to reset the alarm?

I have no idea where you can get a manual for the security system. That is an accessory item, so the testing procedure wouldn't be in the shop manual.

I would think that removing the negative battery cable for a few minutes should reset the alarm. Make sure to get your radio code before you do this.

Used to have a 1998 Accord automatic. I've switched off the engine when the trans is in "D" many times (I don't like automatics). Never had these kind of problems, so I'll go along with this being the alarm system.
