window problems
i have like a month now with a problem on my window... i went to the shop and they told me it was the window regulator but me being cheap i want to know if theres a way of fixing the problem( if it can be fixed) without replacing the regulator.
Heres what happens so you can get the idea: The window goes up and down normally but when it almost closed it makes a sound like if it was jammed and wont go up any further, if i keep holding the window button up you can see the window going up and down up and down but it doesnt close. The only way to close it is if you push it up, but when you go thru a bump in the road it slightly comes down.
Today i tried openening the door panel and i did but i came across with a plastic thingy and got scared and closed the panel.

RE: window problems
it's most likely the wires that guide/control the window not the regulator itself.... the wire on mine frayed and did the same thing but unfortunatly it's all one assembly... Here's where I got mine.... Best prices I found and I installed it pretty easy to do...

RE: window problems
search this forum for door panel removal and you'll find those instructions to get at the motor, then from there just remove the plastic sheeting that goes inbetween the door panel and the door frame, (get a role of duct tape to replace/fix it after the repair, there will be 3 bolts towards the front of the door that hold the regulator on, two bolts towards the top and two tolds the bottom that hold on the railing that the window travels on, you'lll need to roll the window down far enough to see the two "pinch" bolts that hold the window onto the rail so it moves up and down, remove those two first, roll the window down and remove the other 7 bolts (I think they are all 10mm) then you can lift up the window a bit and remove all that stuff.... then reverse the procedure!

RE: window problems
Hi,
Just want to say MUCH thanks for the info...
Had some problems with my driver side power window not going up. Took the car to two Honda dealers - and they both wanted to charge close to $400 to fix it.
With your help, I ordered the part and fixed it for $69 - including shipping. Well, I must admit it took me about 3 hours ...but I was working very slow since I really had no idea what I was doing. Thanks again...
Now, I need to replace my windshiled washer reservoir. Dealer wants $160 to do it. I will try searcing this site to see if there is a how-to on replacing the washer reservoir.

RE: window problems
glad it helped you out! Those regulators are pretty expensive from the dealership.... that's why I went with the lifetime warranty produce.... It took me a while the first time I did one as well but you saved over $300.00 and it only took 3 hours.... I'll work for $100.00/hour anyday!
