Does your brake light work?

I would inspect that brake light switch. Maybe the plunger fell out or the switch is loose and needs adjusted.

Well I did look under there and I pushed the Black button thingy and it was really soft I'm just wondering if that's why it won't shift from park
I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to buy one if that's not it someone said it could be a neutral safety switch

When you pushed the button in & out, did that make the brake lights work? Not sure, but you might need the key ON. If not, then you could try jumpering the wires for that switch. (Not sure of wire colors, how many wires are there?) Don't waste your money until you convince yourself that the switch IS bad.

you know that if you push any key into the slot next to the shifter it will come out of park, right?

Yes it's the brake switch. There's an interlock (federal safety requirement) that will not allow the shift lever to come out of park unless you're standing on the brake pedal.

on older models the plastic stops get old and pop out and the switch plunger will not depress. hard to see this part under there. I think it's 7 on the diagram
