Default Build A Custom Intake

Does anybody have any expirience building a custom made Short Ram Intake or Cold Air Intake? I thought it may be a cool alternative to dropping $200 on a AEM V2. Thanks!

I made one for my car but discarded it since it would not pass state inspection. I went with an AEM short ram that has the C.A.R.B. sticker. They looked for it at inspection time, closed the hood, and put the new sticker on the windshield. They would not have done so with my home made contraption.

Would you mind telling me a little bit about what you did. Materials, how you got the shape, where you put the intake, what filter, etc. Thanks, I would really appreciate it. Here in MN we don't have to pass any tests or anything, so I should be fine.

i think you should just buy a premade one. you can get one for 30-50 bucks on e bay with the filter. if the buy the filter separately at pep boys its 20 bucks alone. the good thing about the aem is that it uses cold air and sound to make power.

Before i got my AEM i removed the huge air box under my front bumper and cut rectangles out of my stock air box under the filter. Sounded just as good as my new intake and added a little to the motor aswell.

I would highly recommend the AEM v2, After installing one in my car I found the sound alone is worth it... what a monster..

To me the +8WHP and incredible deep rumble were more than enough to counterbalance the higher price tag; though I did pick it up for around 230 on Ebay, factory sealed package.
