Default Burning odor - '99 EX 4 Cyl.

There is a burning smell when I accelerate with the A/C on. There is none when the A/C is off. This Accord has 59000 miles on it. The vehicle has all its scheduled maintenance done on time. Had an oil change recently and got the rear brake pads replaced. Please advise.

welcome to the forum! as far as the smell goes can you tell what it is? Is it oil, rubber, plastic etc? just to clarify if you just turn on the vents only it doesn't do it? Are you having any other issues with the car or funny noises?

hello...thanks for the reply. The smell is more like burning fuel(similar to exhaust);certainly not rubber or plastic. I have a feeling that i need to the cabin air filter. It was replaced once at 37000 miles. Also i could smell the fumes of a heavily emitting car in front of me with the vents on. At present there are no other issues with the car and no funny noises either. Let me know what do u think?

My last oil change was about 4 months ago. The vehicle has run for about 2000 miles since the oil change. Thanks for your feedback neways.

assuming the A/C is still blowing cold and everything is fine I would guess that you need a new cabin airfilter.... I would also just check and see if you notice the smell in the engine bay with the a/c on and that may help you narrow it down/verify that is the issue...

The A/C is running well currently. As u suggested i'll verify and change the cabin air filter. Thanks for ur help. I intend to follow this website for cabin air filter replacement.
