Default exhaust sise

Hi, sorry about the spelling but my key next to x isnt working lol. I have a 95 2.2 accord coupe and while sorting the brakes spotted a hole at the joint with the backbox so I thought it might be easier to fit an aftermarket backbox to the existing pipe rather than spend money on the full rear system. Problem is I forgot to measure it and need to know the external dimension. thanks in advance

You should see if an exhaust shop can patch the hole. You can get your own mufler and bring it there to get installed, but they still have to weld it to the pipe and weld hangers on.

Forget the measurements and just bring it in.

Cars not on the road at the moment need to get the back box fitted for the mot. Im in england and if I get caught driving it then I get fined, points on my license and the car crushed so its not worth driving it because it sounds ruff as a bears **** at the moment. But if I find a backbox that will be a good enough fit that I can seal on and secure with a couple of jubilee clips and a decent strap then Im laughing.

Well, I believe it has about 60mm exhaust piping. I'm trying to think of what might be available across the pond for you...

You could try getting a small piece of thin sheet metal, I'd say 8cm x 13cm, gob a bunch of silicone sealant/caulk on it and in the hole, wrap the hole with the sheet metal and use 2 hose clamps to hold it on. That would temporarily seal the hole and allow you to drive it to a shop.

A 5 minute epoxy paste would also be a good temporary fix.

The box itself is about 46cm x 20cm x 15cm on my car, something similar should fit. It should be an offset inlet/center outlet type of muffler/backbox. You'll likely need to use a reducer and a few exhaust clamps to secure, plus new hangers.

I'ts not the noise violation its the driving without mot and tax. I dont know what the equivalent is over there but its a roadworthiness test and I cant tax the car without it and thats what they will crush the car for. I think I will take the exhaust off and see if I can get it welded.

OK, many places here require a test (mostly for exhaust emmissions) before you can renew the license plates.

You guys have number plates that stay with the car FOREVER, right? Ours stay with the owner & have to be renewed each year.

Didnt know you had plates for the owner ours are registered to the car when new and stay with it. Anyway took the backbox off today and the whole thing is pretty much shot so its a replacement only and no quick fix but I did find one for £57 pound so it could be worse honda wanted 110.
