Default Exhaust suggestions on a 1993 Sedan

My friend has a 1993 Sedan and the exhaust is rusted on it, so I'm going to help him put a new one up. He wants it to sound stock...but he's also looking to spend as little as possible. There's systems on eBay for $100 shipped...I was thinking of picking up one of these, cutting off the ricer muffler and putting something "stock-ish" on it...but it would be nice if we could find a full setup (cat included) for under the $200 mark that would work as a direct replacement or at least be as quiet as stock.

Suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Well, the Honda Parts Dept would love to sell you new parts and the warranty on them is very good and very costly as well.

But the reality is the local muffler shop will probably set you up for under $200 and if they have a good reputation they will stand behind their work for a good length of time.

I don't live in the 'rust belt' and I don't know how much of your friends exhaust system needs replaced, but the local muffler shop will probably give you a free estimate.

Yeap they want to charge him nearly $400 for mild steel tubing, a muffler, and a cat. He's willing to pay it, but I hate for him to spend so much when I can do it for the cost of parts and materials.

I think that I'll just get a generic system and put a regular muffler on it. Probably the most straight forward and simplest thing.

Find out why they want to include a cat? It's most likely OK.

Go to the junk yard/pick n pull w/e you have around you. Find any year accord and take the muffler. Take the muffler to the exhaust place and tell them you want JUST the pipe and hangers. Tell them you want to use your stock cat and the newER muffler you brought them. Should be under $100. It cost me $75 to do just what I told you to do @ my local exhaust shop. If they try to tell you more than $100 bucks for bending some pipe and welding a muffler tell them to eat a d*ck. I’d personally tell them to run 2.25' mandrel bent or a 2.5' crush bent and slap the stock muffler on and you be good to go.

If you can find a cheap MANDREL bent cat back off ebay for like $150 shipped pick it up then cut the fart can off and run st8 pipe with no muffler...but make sure to keep stock cat if you do that. If you DON'T WANT to keep your cat then just cut the fart can off and get a good muffler....that's what I’d do....But you said you want it a quite as possible so if so use your cat and a OEM muffler. A good muffler to get your hands on if you can is a RSX type s muffler great stock muffler.
