Default fart connon

So I upgraded my exhaust from 2.5"-3.0" and threw on an apexi muffler its big for got how big but I know the bigger the piping the louder the. car gets I have a resonator on there but when I get on the gas it just sounds like a FART CANNON with the.smaller piping it sounded so nice but I had to upgrade for turbo for next summer so is there a way to dampen that cuz it just isn't cutting it for me. aem Sri, (Megan headers.<---- junk )

Thanks for the help

the piping is too big that’s why it sounds like crap. B/c the exhaust is bumping around the inside of the bigger pipe. It's too free flowing vs. the smaller piping there is more pressure. They only way to get rid of the noise would to swap back to the smaller exhaust. Also your losing you low end with that big of a exhaust.

So no tune or anything else would dampen it for sure?

You can try one of these

They're called muffler silencers. You might have to drill a small hole in one spot on your muffler to use it, but they do take the volume down by a bit. Measure the inner diameter of your muffler and you can probably find an eBay silencer for $20-25.
Other option is to go with smaller pipe.

Peil thos silencers are useless. They might muffle 1-3 dB but that’s about it.
You could weld back your stock muffler that should bring down the exhaust tone a bit.

I've heard pretty significant differences with them on and off, maybe it varies depending on the muffler and such.

Do you still have the stock Cat ? My exhaust is very loud when i was running a test pipe, but when i put the Cat back on it cut the noise down about 1/2. I don't have problem with Megan header, maybe they're not the best but it's give me decent whp on the dynoed

This. I've had an exhaust that was set to be to big and it started making the same new you're referring to.
