Im looking for a intake for my car. something at a good price but does the job. Im looking at these two intakes and the only different is that one says "with MAF" and the other says "without MAF". Do i need a MAF or watever it is talking about.

Also, ill take any opionions on which intakes are good. Brand/performance wise. my budget is 280. Plus, anybody kno any sites selling a complete cold air intake system. the one which you can convert from short to long ram?

If your car is a california emissions car you need a MAF, if its just a reg one then you dont need it.

 

This picture is forthe 4-cylinder engine. What do you have?

Look at part 20 in the inset of this drawing. Thats the MAF - does you car have this or not?

i do believe i have that. ill take a look when i get out of class. its like a plug in with some wires correct? if so i guess i do need the maf...

 

yeah its a sensor, it should say MAF on it.

 

so im looking at other intakes and some of them say "LEV motor only". What does that mean? for example:

I googled around and it sounds like when it says LEV only it means the accord model that does not have MAF sensor. My accord is the 2.4 4 cylinder one with the MAF. This intake would not work?

 

Yeah, if your car has that sensor, its located on that little flat depression on the air filter housing. My 2003 ULEV engine does not have it. I bet its the SULEV engine that has it.

Then you need to buy the MAFversion of the intake. I bet its just got a place for you to install your existing sensor.

 

well if its like that. I need to find a intake with the MAF sensor. can someone find some for me? i am looking for short ram. Every intake i look at says LEV motor only which means no maf sensor.

 

ive been doing a lot of research. it seems there are only a few of short ram intakes. i saw pictures of it but it seems there is an adapter for the MAF going to the intake. Someplease help. does somebody have the same car as me, who already put in an intake? i cant find a damn intake with MAF.
