and guys, It depends on where you buy the intake. if you buy it in a shop like I did, it may cost a bit more. But lets say the intake I might've bought on k&n.com was defected. it would cost me to ship it to them to fix, and ship it back to me.so, I'd pay $30 extra to go here locally and get my problem fixed without a hassle of shipping.

And support local businesses too. Everyone's got their reasons for choosing when & where to buy stuff.

Give information so people can make a choice; don't yell at someone for not making the same choices you would.

IMHO, an intake is an intake. certian materials may repell heat better than others and filters may take in more air than others. But in the end, they all average about the same performance. Name brands cost more period Its all speculation on which is better. Until you yourself test both on a dyno.

A home-made intake made with autozone filters and pipes will not give you the same power as a name brand intakes, point blank.

What brings you to this conclusion my dear boy? surely such a strong
belief must come with some solid facts or valid evidence my good man. Please share. I'm always up for a good contrary belief.

Honestly, have you ever seen (in person) the before and after dyno with any stock compared to sri or cai? Now I must ask have you ever compared on a dyno, a 50$ ebay intake to a 100$+ aem, k&n or injen?
I'm gonna guess no but correct me if I'm wrong...

Yes, we have had a dyno in a speed shop in town for a couple of years here in the area...

lol yes I have. Also search k20 civic forums they have proved it over and over again..When I had my h22 in my cb I had ebay pipe with K&N filter gained 1.4hp swapped to my AEM with K&N filter gained over 3hp. This is w/o a tune...with tune If I remember correctly I saw a close to a 5hp gain with my AEM. SO stop guessing and search. Iv been around the block with hondas I’m not some noob who THINKS he knows what he is talking about. But hey if you don’t want to believe me I could careless...don’t hurt my feelings just shows your lack of searching skills and lack of knowledge.

.....So thank you come again

thank you. Just b.c. some ppl in this thread don't want to buy the real deal, doesn't mean they could try and make their ebay intakes good.

I completely understand that. If you really can't afford it go with the cheaper rout. But it's HAS be proven that the name brands DO make more power than the ebay stuff. Also the name brands have take countless hr.s and money to make the best air flow and atomization happen so they yield better performance and burn fuel more efficiently. Sorry if I came off as a butt head or something but I do know what I'm talking about. I wouldn't spread false info on a forum I help run. I'm here to help ppl and share my knowledge
