2000 Accord warm stall at speed
Hey everyone, I know this one seems to be popular but I haven't seen anyone address what I have been experiencing so lets chat about it. My car stats:
2000 Honda Accord, 255K miles, have owned since 120K miles
Have replaced: Main Fuel Relay (twice), ignition coil, spark plugs and wires, distributor cap, and new air filter
The problem I'm having is something seems to be over heating and then malfunctioning leading to a complete loss of power, engine stall and then shut off. I know some component is over heating because when its 20 degrees outside it runs much longer before stalling than when its 90 degrees outside - I have been having this problem for several years now.
Some other considerations... this is my commuter car that I use with the train and sits for sometimes a week at a time before I use it again as I work from home occasionally. It always start right up with no problems but after being warm for a about 10 minutes it starts to cough and sputter and then dies. If I double foot it I can still drive it but have to maintain idle while keeping one foot on the brake and the other on the gas when i'm stopped. It's not ideal but it will usually help me get around town if I have to. It never kicks a check engine or error code (I have an OBD II) and when it dies it looks the same as when you first turn it to position 1 on the ignition.
Please help, its driving me crazy and I only get about 10 minutes of run time out of the car before it stalls out completely. It happens at speed and at idle but runs completely perfectly until it cuts out. If I try to start it after its been warm it won't turn over right away either which lead me to the above repairs but none of that has helped either. If it sits for a while it will run fine for a while again but i'm not sure how much longer because I usually only take short trips around town.
Currently looking at MAP sensor or some other air flow sensor but I'm not familiar with the electrical systems and possible sensors to replace to get checked out.
Open to try whatever at this point, need my little beater to keep running as long as possible. It really runs perfectly outside of this stalling issue. Thanks in advance!
