I guess I'm a techie kind of guy, but not cars. Just doing my own wrenching since carburator days. Does thatmarkme as an old guy? Anyone need to know how to rebuild the carb of a '72 Datsun?

HAHAHA... Hey, why not? I've done my share of dum things. Like the time I was installing an ammeter in that old 510. I welded my wristwatch right onto the terminals back of the ammeter. GEEZ that got hot real quick.
Well, I just wanted to make sure I ruled everything out before I went for the headgasket.
I'm still hoping it's a mirage and when I see that car tomorrow it won't have any more scum in there. It still amazes me that oil can leak in but no antifreeze leaking the other way.

Hmmm... Oil molecules are much larger than water. I don't know about ethene glycol's size. Probably still smaller than oil. Maybesurface tension is the thing.
Butwhen you turn off the engine, the water remains pressurized for quite awhile. The oil pressure drops off just about instantly.
