New Accord V6 Coupe: Is this normal?
Hey everyone...I just wanted to bounce this off of you and get some other perspectives. I'll keep it short.
I just bout an '06 Accord Coupe V6 MT. Got a really great deal on it since it's the end of the model year. I found out that it had been sitting on the lot for about three months before I bought it.
I've put 1500 miles on it and it has had an engine knocking/pinging problem ever since I bought it. It's not very loud but you can hear it during the beginning of each gear. Also, there's a noticible wine from the A/C compressor when it comes on. Do you think it might need some oil/lubrication?
I should mention that it sat on the dealer's lot in the 100F+ Hot Texas sun during those three months. Do you think the heat is what caused the little annoyances?
Regarding, should I continue filling up with Super Unleaded a few more times to see if that helps? Someone suggested I reset the computer- seems like if I needed to do that I should just take it in.
Your thoughts on all of this?
Thanks!

well i will say that the heat didnt do any good to the car, you should see if you can find out how often the car was driven while it was on the lot. You wont get a strait answer from the dealership, but you can ball park it depending on how long and how many people they tell you to ask. The more people you see and the longer it takes to get an answer the longer that car has been sitting there. BTW hows the paint? Sun+unprotected paint = fading. You should also take a look at your hoses extreme temps can cause warping in the rubber used. As for the pinging and knocking i dont know what to tell you. Ive heard that using too High an octane can cause this. Then again this is only what ive heard i cant substatiate any of it. Hope you get your answers, and enjoy your accord. How soon do you plan on voiding that warentee?

First, welcome to an awesome forum that has taught so much that I now know how to pee, lol.
Anyway, if I just bought a new car and things were acting funny I would go to the salesman who sold it to me and put a little squeeze on him. Salesman love word of mouth and if he knows you might have gotten burnt he'll do the right thing, at least he should, but some people are..... Moving on, if that doesn't get it corrected follow the chain up. Just saying what I would do because if I bought a brand new car everything about it better be/act/smell/look/perform new. You paid a lot of good money for that new car, nuff said.

Thanks for the info. I took it to the dealer and they told me that they drove it significantly (they put over 40 miles on it) and couldn't notice anything strange.
I still hear the slight pinging however, I've noticed several other 06 V6 MT owners that have dealt with the same thing. I plan on using Mobil 1 synthetic and take very good car of my cars. Just don't want to do all of that in vain if this stupid ping problem is going to erupt into something bigger.
The technicial that I spoke with said that he did notice a slight ping but only between 2K and 3K RPMs, He said this has always been a characteristic of this Accord when paired with the 6MT.
Any other thoughts?
