Default New to the forum - 92 Accord LX vs. 96 Corolla

Hi all,

New to the forum here. Just looking at buying an accord but I have a choice to make. A '92 Accord LX 5spd 204,000km or a 1996 Toyota Corolla 5spd 191,000km. Both are the same price but I can't decide so just looking for some opinions on which would be the more relialbe car. Just looking for something that I'm not going to haev to fix all the time like the '93 Mazda MX-6 I currently own.

Neither one of those cars are new enough to guarantee they'll be reliable. Honda & Toyota both have good reputations for durability, but whenever there's that many km you just have to do your best to inpect them for any mechanical issues.

High mileage for both vehicles....go through a thorough inspection, both mechanical and electrical, before making the purchase.

Working with about $2000 here. I am in Canada so that 200,000 is km not miles. About 125,000 miles if that makes it easier. Both cars are safetied which covers all the steering and suspension components.

I had a 90 corolla and a 89 accord and I would say the corolla blew the accord away in terms of reliability. I bought my corolla with 130,000km and drove it for 100,000km with no problems other than regular maintenance and had to change the cv shafts. 190,000km is nothing and being a 96 for about $2000......it's a steal. If you smashed it up tomorrow insurance would give you about twice that. I smashed up my 90 corolla with 230,000 km and got $2600. I only paid $2100 two years previous!!!

Have a good day and good luck on your purchase!

with only $2000, it's gonna be tough finding something. I saw a 1989 Accord LX someone was sellign for $3950!! That's rediculous if you ask me, i mean it's an 89'!!!!!!!! But is is possible to find a great higher mileage honda for around $2000 so good luck, and happy hunting! Let us know what you find
