Default New member and question about break-in period

Hi all, new member, just bought a 2024 Accord Hybrid on Sunday and will be taking it on a short road trip to visit family two weeks from today. The "trip" part is about 400 miles of highway driving, with a climb from sea level to 1000ft and then back down again, both ways (Monterey, CA to Sacramento, for those familiar with the area). Owner's manual recommends taking it easy on the vehicle for the first 600 miles of driving to properly break in the engine. However, I'm not sure I'll have hit the 600-mile mark by the time I go on my trip.

How important is the 600-mile mark? Should I be able to take it up that climb as long as I don't push it too hard? Anything I can do to better prepare the car for the trip besides driving enough so that I hit the 600-mile mark beforehand?

Thanks!

Just follow the break in instructions in your Owner's Manual; you'll be good to go.
