Default Remote Starter 861

Hi!

I've been a Honda Accord owner since 2005. I purchased a 2020 Accord LX back in March. In October I had a remote starter installed. I believe the the remote starter number is 861. In my past Honda Accord, you would press the lock button 3 times and the car would start. I would then unlock my vehicle and would have to put my foot on the break to stop the auto start and then start the car normally.
What's different about this auto start is that I press the button 3 times and then when I unlock the car the auto start stops rather than me having to get into the vehicle and then put my foot on the break. I find this annoying because I have to load several items into my car on a daily basis before leaving and by the time I get into my car, the car is cold which really defeats the purpose of having remote start to begin with. I checked with the Honda dealership and they said this is normal. Can someone please confirm that this is the normal sequence of how this is supposed to work. My son just got a 2020 Civic and had a remote starter installed and his does not stop when he unlocks the door but stops when he puts his foot on the break. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

You're suppose to be able to unlock your car put your foot on the brake and press the start button to drive off. The car should only turn off at the 10 min mark. You may want to get in touch with Honda instead of your dealership which has no clue on how the new systems work.

I don't know what an 861 is

Thank you for your reply. I did contact Honda and while I did speak to someone who was trying to answer my question, she had no information on installation of after market remote starters. The 861 that I refer to, I believe is the model number or the after market kit that was used. It appears on the invoice that the dealer gave me when they billed me for it.
Do you have any suggestions on who else I may be able to contact at Honda that could possible help me. Thanks.

As I understand it all Accords came with factory auto start. All you had to do was purchase the Honda key and have the dealership program it to the car. If you have an aftermarket remote starter you would have to get with the manufacture who made it to see it's limitations not Honda. Honda doesn't control how other manufacturers program there remote starters.

Hi!

Even though it was installed by the Honda dealership. I was thinking this is an after-market remote start made and authorized by Honda?

Do you have the manual that came with it. They should of given it to you. I didn't know it was installed by Honda. They only install factory products

Yes, I agree. This should be an authorized product and work the way you described. I'm going to speak with the the service department and see if I can get the manual. Thanks for your help.
