Default Soooo happy with this purchase!!

hey guys!!

I just got my first car. 04, EX-L model, fully loaded, M/T, 2 sets of tires on rims, with 140k on it. It was everything i was looking for in a car, plus the price was amazing!!

im pretty new into the world of cars, but i have tons of mechanical, and electrical experience from building lego (age 6-present), building ALOT of computers (age 11-present) and also i went to school for Aircraft Maintenance. Currently I work at a factory, we build the CRV and CIVIC seats at my plant, and i'm in the parts quality responder of 2 of the plants. Been working here a year, and iv learn alot, and moved up (quite fast actually, im the youngest person to be offered a full time position).

the car is great as is, but being the mechanical person i am, i want to know everything about my car, and how to upgrade and fix it.

Welcome to HAF.

Is this the 4 or 6 cyl, I think (I'm old so the memory sucks) the EXL came with the 6 but I've been wrong before.

Prices on cars will vary by where you live....and I'm in the US and you are in Canada so I have nothing to compare to.

Where I live, they are "proud" of cars.....I can go back to where I grew up - ~700 miles west - and the same car is less.

Anyway, you have the 4 cyl which has a timing chain and not a belt - the 6 cyl have a belt that needs to be changed @ 100~120k miles. My fear/worry was that you had the 6 cyl at 140 and the belt had not been changed....instant car repair cost needed.

You can hang out and read threads and learn about the car....or, if you are going to do your own work and plan on keeping the car for some time. I suggest that you buy a service manual for the car. IMHO, go to "automanualsource" dot com and buy the manual. It is ~$22 for a download, hope you have a good internet, or ~$27 for a CD shipped to your house. Trust me, it will be the best ~$30 tool you ever bought for a car you own.

Well that is a plus. Again, spend an afternoon and check everything out.

Since you have the manual you know what "should have been done" - so if you can't verify that it has been done, put it one the list (MT trans flui, plugs, cabin filters, air filter, ect).

Good luck and let us know if we can help.
