Default a little help please...

My buddy just bought an Evolution VIII and it is soo damn fast it pisses me off. I would really like it if my accord could beat it by the end of this year.
Anyways, I need to know whether i should buy an F22 block and build it up for the lowest comperssion possible to handle 25+ lbs of boost, or would the H22 be better for that. Ive heard really good things about turbo'd single cams, i just dont know cuz ive never done it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Generally speaking SOHC are better for turbo applications... His car is about 200 lbs lighter at roughly 286 HP so around 9.28lbs/hp depending on what year/model you have an F22 SOHC Vtec with 25 lbs of boost would spank him (assuming you have about a 94 accord at 2800 lbs) but it probably wouldn't be cheap

lower compression has to do with the pistons, but you will need new rods and pistons anyways, basically you would look at an 8:1to 8.5:1 compression forged piston, and you will need to redo your valves, valve springs and a titanium retainer there are kits out there just for the head on f22's
THEN your options are close the deck or sleeve the block (personally i would sleeve the block so you can goto larger pistons but im sure others might say differently)

then of course you have to do the ecu bit, and larger injectors and a 3 bar map

and to all the others fill in what im missing ^_^

I'd agree with sleeving.... and if he's at 405 WHP you're going to need to do some serious work.... new cam, headers, probably a larger coil to throw a hotter spark, I'd say for 10k-15k you'd beat him.... and considering he probably has $20,000 plus into his car (purchase price plus aftermarket) you'd kick his hiney for a lot less than he spent....

check locally first before you decide to send off your block to someone seeing as thats a good 300ish dollars for shipping, but i dont think you would go as high as $15k for the work engine work alone you can do foraround$6k to have it running properly tuning will be the biggest thing

but yeah, check local import shops, and gather info that way
