Turbo or Supercharger?

Turbo or Supercharger?
I've been looking into forced induction for my 98 Accord Sedan (4 cyl version) and I was hoping people could give me their experience with whether turbos or superchargers tend to work better in these cars? I'm impatient and I'm more into quick response and acceleration so I didn't think I'd like the lag on turbos, but I've also been told that a centrifugal supercharger, which I'd probably use, has some spool up time anyway, plus newer gen turbos (t3/t4) I guess don't have the kind of lag old turbos had anyway.
Nonetheless, since there's a lot of ifs, ands, or buts, I decided I'd ask all of you and see what kind of experiences people have had with each. If you all seem pleased with superchargers and have complaints about your turbos in these model cars (or vice versa), I'll likely take your advice.

Actually most people go with the turbo for the Accords. Turbos are much more common in the import world, whereas superchargers are more common on domestics. I would recommend you go with the turbo, its a more efficient system, and there's generally more support for it for your car than there will be if you go the supercharging route.

RE: Turbo or Supercharger?
I would also recommend a turbo. Look at it this way, to use a supercharger you are actually using the engine to power the supercharger to force air into the engine. That means you use engine power, to receive more power. Now, with a turbo it gets its power from the exhaust. Exhaust is really just wasted energy, so when you use a turbo, you are gaining hp with free wasted energy and dont have to sacrifice any of your current hp to power it.

Good Point. Also You gonna have a hard time finding a supercharger for 4cylender accords and it will be more expensive then a turbo. There are plenty of turbo;s for accords and some very cheap, you can even peaice you own together for cheaper.

Thanks for the advice so far guys. I had taken the free power thing into consideration, but I was also wondering if the tradeoff would be worth it in order to avoid lag? One of my friends had mentioned he's pretty sure he newer turbos have been shown to have less spool time so that lag is reduced anyway. Do any of you know if there is any truth to this? If it is then turbo is obviously the winner my unanimous decision. If not, I'll probably still go with a turbo after your comments but I may at least consider otherwise.. not entirely sure.
Besides that.. what tends to be the best wayto piece together my own turbo? and if I decide not to do that what tend to be the cheapest places to find a kit?

Also.. if I'm going to be putting on a turbo what other mods are most important? Obviously if I came up with the money I'd like to pretty much revamp everything, but unless I hit the lottery.. well, we all understand the art of doing mods bits at a time. I'm assuming I'll have to do at exhaust and clutch.. wasn't sure about tranny.

Do a forum search, a while back someone compiled a list of everything you would need to make your own turbo kit. You can probably source a lot of it on eBay if you arent shy about buying there.
Definitely upgrade your clutch, a bigger exhaust is a must. And I dont think you would need to necessarily replace your tranny, but a trans cooler is something I would definitely recommend.

Awesome man. Thanks for the advice. I've had a lot of good luck on eBay so I'm not shy about it. Just hope that luck stays. I have a buddy who's been more than willing to give me some advice and is actually excited to help me put some stuff together (he's an aspiring mechanic). He just drives a Focus so he recommended I come find out from some Accord drivers what works best on these cars (he supercharged).
So it sounds like I'll find out what the components of putting my own kit together would include and start comparing some prices.
Thanks again...
