2000 Honda Accord DX Tranny vs. ECU dillemma
Greetings to all the Honda Accord lovers. I had ignored the extended trans. warranty that was sent to me a couple of years after we bought the car. Being a Honda lover and having owned at least an Accord LX 1981 and an Accord LX 1984 without ANY problems whatsoever probably made me not care about the extended warranty for the 2000 model. Guess what. The car started to warn me like not allowing me to use the shifter, making me pull it to parking and using the key to action the unlock/lock function small hole. Afterwards, it started to go into Neutral when I was climbing a hill, or even making a clunk sound when stopping.)
I have taken the car to two EX-honda licensed mechanics ( Not at a Honda dealer) and both of them have different versions. One of them says it is the ECU (Electronic control module/unit), because the code was 1705 (which deals with the Automatic Trans. gear sensor switch, of which I learned there are four.
The second mech. states it is a tranny problem, which may cost to repair near $1.5K or else.
The s/n for the ECU is 37820-PAB-A51. I have tried buying it used but it is unavailable, even at Ebay, as far back as last week.
Does anyone out there know or has this same problem I face? Can a mere code help in fixing the problem? I know this is a hot subject for those out there who own this same year model.
Many thanks for your help!

It sounds like your transmission is slipping not an ECU problem.... I'd say it's either a sensor on the transmission or the transmission iteslf... More than likely you need a tranny rebuild...
