Default 2008 Honda Accord Coupe i4 or v6?

I am shopping around for a couple different cars. This would be my first honda (hence the name) and i just got rid of my 08 f150 to get something good on gas. Since im changing jobs in military and have to travel a bunch during school (4 trips of 1200 miles over next 6 mo). I need something reliable, gas friendly, and looks descent.

My questions i have found 2 similar accords ....both ex-l and metallic gray. One is i4 and one is v6. I have test drove the i4 and it was alright but how does the v6 compare? i have driven the altima coupe v6 and that was pretty fun car.

I notice the v6 has timing belts...when and how much does that cost to replace? And for the v6 guys how good is your mpg on the highway i know it shows 19/28 but those numbers can be off in a good or bad way.

Also even though we have a suv every now and then i may take my daughter around are the backseats able to fit a carseat in? Nissan swears the altima coupe can but looking at the honda seems like its got a lot more room.

Any particular trouble should i watch out for when buying?

appreciate all the advice

If economy is your goal, the I4 is hands down best bet. It will get 30mpg around town and better on the road, depending on drive habits. A V6 usually will get around 20 mpg around town and 25-30 on the road.

Timing belt on V6 is a big job. I just did one on Acura MDX V6 (3.5L) and it was an all-day, back breaking job. It will probably cost s$700-$1000 at dealers or shops.

good luck

Definitely go for the I4.

With gas prices rising, we should all be looking for smaller engines.

I put premium gas in my Pontiac gas guzzler for 10 years. I wish I had all that money back and had bought something more practical.
