2DR Accords... are they cop magnets?
I got my first Honda Accord last tuesday (pictures here).
Next morning, on my first ride to work, I got pulled over by a cop: speeding 56mph on a 35mph street. I told him that it was the first day I had the car and I didn't get used to the feel of the speed (and I wasn't lying at that time). Luckily he let me go without ticket nor warning.
I've never been pulled over by a cop until my first day with the Accord. I used to drive an old Explorer and did some speeding everywhere. Never got any tickets or anything.
I generally go 5mph over the limit everywhere, I believe this is a reasonable speeding limit. But now, I'm afraid of getting pulled over often. Suddenly, I'm the slowest car on the highway...
Is this common with Accord owners? does it matter if it is 2DR/4DR, I4 or V6? I'll be getting a spoiler and probably window tinting, but I'm hesitating now...

Lol it depends. They usually just stare at me and do nothing. If you're careful, it won't matter but, if you're stupid you'll get pulled over multiple times. Like my sister has had several tickets and totaled six cars and trucks and she is only 21. My brother has had the same truck and no tickets and he's 18. So it really just depends on the driver and not what he/she is driving.
But...coupes are sportier than 4 doors so cops might pay more attention to you than another accord with 4 doors. I think cops generally look at what the car looks like and how it is driven. Your car may be a "cop magnet" if you drive like you came out of the bar but if you drive like you came from grandma's house they may not focus on your car as much.

Dude, doing 21 over the speed limit is a cop magnet. Im amazed that he didnt ticket you. I generally stick to five over as a rule of thumb also. I have never gotten pulled over when I didnt deserve it. My tickets were for 72 in a 55 and for racing (yeah, Im an idiot). I wouldnt say the Accord is a cop magnet, but then, if you start tricking out your car, it will draw attention. Thats just how it works. Dont drive crazy, you should stay under the radar. No pun intended.

I wonder how much insurance is your sister paying....
I hate to think that cops pay attention to how the car looks like and not how you actually drive. I drive faster with my old Explorer than the Accord, yet expect to have problems with the Accord only...
Is the Accord (2DR or 4DR) considered a sport car?
EDIT: yeah, 21 over the limit was stupid, but I didn't mean to. I have a hard time trying to maintain a constant speed with the Accord. Plus the speedometer is missing 10, 30, 50, 70mph indications, so it is hard to understand what speed are you driving at.
Over here in Lville, highways are 55mph but people drive at 70mph. I'm afraid to follow the traffic with this car...

Okay, look at it this way: which will a cop be more likely to pull over, a stock looking Accord, or one that has a big bodykit, wing, maybe some neon underbody lights? The Fast and the Furious franchise pretty much brought down a lot of hate on modified cars.
I really doubt that the 2 dr Accord is considered a sports car, but Im no insurance agent, I couldnt say for sure. I know for a fact that my four door isnt, the insurance on it is way cheaper than my wife's 2000 Maxima.
By Lville do you mean Louisville, as in Kentucky?

I agree with poser_pilot about the whole looks thing. My 11 year old four door accord draws zero attention, no exterior mods. And I speed like 10-15 over but so does everyone else here in Phoenix but I haven't had any problems with cops. I also don't weave thru traffic like a mad man or floor it from a stop etc. I think the louder you are the more they are apt to get you.

Lville as in Louisville, Kentucky
The only mod that I'm adding to this car is the factory original wing-spoiler. I do not like the rounded trunk, it is missing the spoiler.
I think I will not tint the windows. No body kit (except door guards), no exhaust, intake, etc.
Regarding flooring it from a stop.... it's so hard to resist the temptation....

Hey, you're close to my neck of the woods, Im in Clarksville, TN.
My car is tinted with chrome rims, thats about it. I pretty much draw zero attention, but then, there are a lot of cars around here to draw the attention away from me lol.

Yes 2 doors is considered "sports", regardless of the car. Our insurance said because her 06 eclipse(totaled it) had 2 doors it was considered sporty(Yes, I know they only have 2 doors but that is when I heard this).
