is a 91 accord with 174k miles worth investing in?
my plan is to keep this car and put about $2,000 more in mods and maybe $1,000 in maintence(eventually, not all at once)
but i dont know if i should, but then again, ive already put about $1,000 in mods and maintence
things like paint, arlarm, and etc
my transmission hasnt broken down yet, so im worried that one of these days it will happen(costs about 1-2k to fix)
all your opinions matter to me!

Dude, I have a 94 with 191k, and Im planning on keeping it. Still original engine, transmission, clutch. Its a great car, I plan on keeping it forever, eventually just making it into a fast, fun car. You probably wont be able to get out of your car what you put into it if you sell it, definitely not if you trade it in, so do what you want. If you want to keep it, I say do it.

Sounds like you have a good start on that car, high miles or not, $2k can do wonders, just depends on what you want to do. Old or new, make that car your own. It sounds like you like that car, so why not have some more fun with it?

I used to get that from a lady at my old job about my 81 civic when I first bought it... until I told her that she paid more for her purse than I paid for my car (which is 100% true) *L* Car mods almost never yeild what you put into them, basically it's all about what you want and what you like...

never a wrong choice to invest in something that will pay mega returns on ur money. for starters cars are a bottomless pit to start with. here is a good way to judge weather or not to do the work...when considdering to put money int a car, u need to ask urself how much will it totally take to make it safe and reliable. next consider thework u can actually do ur self. finally u should expect about 10k miles for every 1k dollars that u invest. u should never consider alternators and exhaust. maintanance is separate. alternators and exhaust are stuff u would have to do on any car, just dont fo to company's mike midas. they charge u cheap and thats exactly what u get. nothing...something that will need to be fixed in a couple of years anyway. now if u put like 4k dollars into a car and get 100k miles isnt that worth it? ud hve to pay 22k dollars for something new and that reliable.

I personally would not mod an engine that has that kinda of milage on it....make the needed repairs and drive the car until it dies and use the money you have been saving for a much newer car with a lot less miles on it to mod.
