Well, I've had all of my cars window's tinted except for one, and have been pulled over twice for it. The first time I just got a warning. That was on my Toyota Solara. The 2nd time was on my Mercedes SLK320. The guy gave mea notice stating that I had to have the window tint removed within 10 days of receiving the notice or I would be fined $104. I told him to just give me the ticket because I wasn't going to take the tint off. He told me he'd "keep an eye out" for me & pull me over whenever he saw me in town & would keep ticketing me. I told him I didn't care, because it would be cheaper for me to keep the tint on, pay the fine, than rip the tint off to get out of the ticket & then re-tint it again. He never did pull me over for it again. Apparently, he liked sassy girls. (Coming from a friend of his that is a mutual friend of mine.) It pays to be a female sometimes!

haha bss! Muchos gracias!

accords own...don't worry about it! No need to stress over something so minor! If you get pulled over, you get pulled over, no big deal. As far as I am aware, Cali doesn't make a big stink over stuff like that. Look at how many celebrities are out there with limo tint on their cars & the cops leave them alone. Even if you do get pulled over, you don't HAVE to take it off. Just pay the fine and hope you don't get pulled over again. Is this the first vehicle you have had tinted? When I tinted my first car, I was a little nervous about it, but the cops left me alone. I remember a cop pulling up next to me and sitting back far enough to run my plate. I was practically sh*tting bricks thinking I was going to get pulled over for it, but I didn't. After that, I was fine with it.

As long as you obide the driving laws, the cops generally don't have a good reason to pull you over. The only reason I was pulled over for my two cars was because I "ran through a yellow light" and the cop decided he would let me go on that one and instead decided to confront me about the tint and inform me of the laws in PA regarding legal tinting. The 2nd time I rolled through a stop sign & he pulled me over & then told me the tint was not legal. In PA, any car that is 98 or newer is not permitted to have ANY tint on their vehicle besides what is already on it from factory. If it's older than 98, the back 3 windows can be tinted as dark as you want. You could spray paint them if you wanted. I think they're stupid laws, but they're there to protect law enforcement for when they pull you over.

First, gentlemen that are considering getting a radar detector, GET IT! I recommend the Escort 9500i. I have the X50 and am considering the upgrade even though the guts are the same. The inteligent features and anti-falsing appears top notch, but I've never tried it. The X50 gives me a pretty good heads-up & it's rated as one of thetop detectors. Look at http://http://www.radarbusters.com/ before you buy.

Back to the thread, I've gotten a tint ticket!!! I used to have 20% on the back and 35% on all sides (sedan). I pealed the fronts after the second ticket. I don't need the hassle or stress, but I loved how it looked.

Are you not allowed to run through a yellow light? I really want to know because I live in California and my dad got pulled over with a warning a while ago because he made a right turn on a yellow without coming to a stop first.

i am confused too, but the way i heard it was: if someone "runs a yellow" with a cop watching or if they are caught on camera, then they can only get TICKETED if your car is still in the intersection when the light turns red. if you get out of the intersection before the light turns red, then all you can get is a WARNING. that is my understanding of california yellow lights. california laws=[:@]
