Default Burnt out on the Accord.....

It seems as though my baby isn't giving me as much interest as it used to. Obvious by the lack of cleaning I have done in the past few months n' such. Not to mention, the OBX Header headache/money down the drain and everything is getting so expensive. Maybe in the summer i'll get into it againwhen I start earning money againbut as for now, shes just going to be how she is. Shes @ 91k miles! I got it with 67k and near that time I joined the forum (maybe?) lol. So idk, we'll see how it goes. My plan for rims and racing seats has gone down the pooper and my projector headlights are off.

I would like a touchscreen stereo though! I think that would be awesome! And some HID's but now im 50/50 with all the reviews!
And I have been tempted to paint the plastic interior pieces, and I would like some racing seats.
I think my longing for a manual 98ish Civic is taking all my attention away!

Do you guys have any ideas for cheap mods I could do?
And what about fiberglass? Ive seen so many awesome things done with that!

Some old pics!
haha My old homemade underlighting!!!
My wreck. Ouch! (not my fault!)
TINY exhaust tip!
Supa shiny!

Have you driven one yet? Dude....Civics are soooooo slow stock (unless it's an SI). Unless you plan on swapping the engine. Plus there is zero leg room! Look for an integra! I know that is easier said than done though. Integras are usually ragged out or have a million miles on them. Just like 240SX's or Eclipses. Look for a manual Accord! You won't be disappointed.
Your car is still a baby! I bought my2000 LX on12/11/06 with 104k on it. It now has 125k and change with 0 problems. The money pit is starting to tick me off though. It's beginning to have speedo issues[sm=headbang.gif]........It's living up to it's name. It only has like 118k miles on it too!

I havent driven one yet, though one of my friends has one...maybe Ill see if I can drive hers! Its an auto though. So is it slower than my Accord? And how do the SI's run? Probably pretty well since they take premium (I think). I like Integras too. My friend got one for 11k and it was niiiice. Had a super $$ blue paint job and that was his 3rd car after a Celica and 240sx (all manuals). Maybe ill go to a dealership and look for a manual one to drive!
Sorry to hear about your Accord. Whats been so wrong with it?! I have seen the speed sensors on ebay for pretty cheap.

I made all of my interior lighting myself as well. Expensive as heck, but worthe the learning experience. I couldn't afford rims either, but I randomly found mine on ebay used, cheap, and with great tires so I jumped on it.

19accord97, using premium gas has nothing to do with speed, combustion or anything of the likes...

In loose terms, the octane level has to do with the levels of iso octane and heptane, and the resistance caused by these mixtures to knocking (aka, anti-knocking).
This also does not directly translate to the "smoothness" of the ride either, but rather relates to the life of the engine.

As more evidence of such, octane levels were "invented" in 1912.. before tuned engines even existed!

An excerpt from a GASOLINE FAQ i've found:
The fuel property the octane ratings measure is the ability of the unburnt
end gases to spontaneously ignite under the specified test conditions.
Within the chemical structure of the fuel is the ability to withstand
pre-flame conditions without decomposing into species that will autoignite
before the flame-front arrives. Different reaction mechanisms, occurring at
various stages of the pre-flame compression stroke, are responsible for the
undesirable, easily-autoignitable, end gases.
This also, as I understand it, allowed for the consideration for cam-overlap, which often relates to high-octane in the larger v6 and v8 engines.

Well, my buddy has a 95stock 5spdcivic and it is pretty freakin slow. It gets awesome gas mileage though. I have never driven an SI so I can't really comment for sure, but I'm pretty sure most SI's will smoke an Accord.
I've ridden in a few stock 5spd Integra's (never driven one). My dad test drove one for me (before I knew how to drive a Manual trans very well - I was 16) and it was pretty quick. It was a stock early 90's model 5spd (not GSR). I may have gotten it if the paint hadn't been in such bad shape.

The accord has just seemed like one thing after the other. All of that time i spentfiguring out I needed to replace the ignition coil......replacing the brake master cylinder.....replacing the radiator fan motor......now the speedo is acting funny. I still have to diagnose it. I HOPE it is the VSS, but if the cruise still works when the speedo doesn't work, it's internal. that means I'll have to send it off to a speedo shop to repair (or buy a new one.) I haven't been able to diagnose it because the speedo won't stop working long enough for me to engage the cruise. I also have maintenance issues I need to take care of. i need to replace the battery terminals, replace the brake pads, andseafoam it. I just haven't gotten the chance at any car work with this new baby at home.

I know integre GSR's require premium, but I don't know about Civic SI's. It would not surprise me. But SI's just cost too much for a Civic in my opinion.

spaz, all that engineering talk is making my head hurt[:'(]Save it for Falkore. haha! JK JK!
