I made all of my interior lighting myself as well. Expensive as heck, but worthe the learning experience. I couldn't afford rims either, but I randomly found mine on ebay used, cheap, and with great tires so I jumped on it.
Really? I made mine for really cheap. I bought some great LED's off ebay, then I used a small diamter PVC pipe and cut it in half length wise, drilld holes for the legs, and ran speaker wire into my car to the switch where it ran off AA's so I wouldnt have to wory about anything.

19accord97, using premium gas has nothing to do with speed, combustion or anything of the likes...

In loose terms, the octane level has to do with the levels of iso octane and heptane, and the resistance caused by these mixtures to knocking (aka, anti-knocking).
This also does not directly translate to the "smoothness" of the ride either, but rather relates to the life of the engine.

As more evidence of such, octane levels were "invented" in 1912.. before tuned engines even existed!

An excerpt from a GASOLINE FAQ i've found:
The fuel property the octane ratings measure is the ability of the unburnt
end gases to spontaneously ignite under the specified test conditions.
Within the chemical structure of the fuel is the ability to withstand
pre-flame conditions without decomposing into species that will autoignite
before the flame-front arrives. Different reaction mechanisms, occurring at
various stages of the pre-flame compression stroke, are responsible for the
undesirable, easily-autoignitable, end gases.
This also, as I understand it, allowed for the consideration for cam-overlap, which often relates to high-octane in the larger v6 and v8 engines.
I simply meant it in terms of that for a 4 cylinder to be needing premium, it must have a pretty highly tuned motor. I think premium is for higher compression motors right? Usually meaning more performance (hence how vtecs have a higher compression than the same motor w/o vtec).
Sorry for the misunderstanding!

Well, my buddy has a 95stock 5spdcivic and it is pretty freakin slow. It gets awesome gas mileage though. I have never driven an SI so I can't really comment for sure, but I'm pretty sure most SI's will smoke an Accord.
I've ridden in a few stock 5spd Integra's (never driven one). My dad test drove one for me (before I knew how to drive a Manual trans very well - I was 16) and it was pretty quick. It was a stock early 90's model 5spd (not GSR). I may have gotten it if the paint hadn't been in such bad shape.

The accord has just seemed like one thing after the other. All of that time i spentfiguring out I needed to replace the ignition coil......replacing the brake master cylinder.....replacing the radiator fan motor......now the speedo is acting funny. I still have to diagnose it. I HOPE it is the VSS, but if the cruise still works when the speedo doesn't work, it's internal. that means I'll have to send it off to a speedo shop to repair (or buy a new one.) I haven't been able to diagnose it because the speedo won't stop working long enough for me to engage the cruise. I also have maintenance issues I need to take care of. i need to replace the battery terminals, replace the brake pads, andseafoam it. I just haven't gotten the chance at any car work with this new baby at home.
Well now I want both! I think I really just like the style of the 98. And if I had tons of money, I dont think turbo'ing would be hard b/c its been done so many times. Off to Honda I go.... haha

Thats to bad about your Accord. Well if it goes well over 200k it would pobably be worth it. Have you ever seafoamed your car before? I have and it seemed like it made it run pretty badly. Though I am sure it was because it was still getting the gunk out. And it made me nervous as heck putting it in!

Oh, and 00AccordLX5spd , since you say your Mustang needs a little TLC (My initials), when should I come over to pick it up?[8D]

I haven't seafoamed yet. I am a little leery of it still. But I know there is probably a lot of built up gunk.
As soon as my wife gets a better job and I get a few more raises we will be getting rid of the money pit and getting my wife a new car. As much as I talk trash about it now, we will both probably be sad to see it go. She has had it since she was like 16 or 17 (She's now 25). When she gets something new (probably a newExplorer with all the bells and whistles) I'll probably feak out because I don't know where anything is under the hood! I'll probably sit out in the garage with the hood popped for hours trying to get myself acquainted with it!
She won't be getting a van either. IMO SUV's are worth the extra gas burned for the added safety and protection. Anyone who had ever taken a defensinve driving class or a driver's safety class should know what I am talking about. Plus I see the safety of them in my insurance claims. *Warning* Rant:
Recently there was a lady driving a Toyota Sequoia in one of our claims. She had 3 small children in the SUV: One infant, and two toddlers. All 3 were in car seats. She was broadsided by a 3/4 ton truckand the SUV flipped and was totaled. She crawled out and got the babies out of their car seats and no one had a scratch on them. She didn't even incur any medical bills. She was a very honest woman so we gave her a VERY fair settlement for her SUV's value. She is now driving an Escalade.

Yeah i see what you're saying; definitely related to the amount of compression the engine is capable of.

And yes, the Civic SI does require 93 octane..
On a side note, i4 Accords are rated at 86% (https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...303O00224A.pdf) and v6 is rated at 91% anti-knocking iso octane.
Interestingly enough all gas stations in the US have 87% minimum since ~1995.

Oh, more interesting numbers:

2006- Honda Civic
* Displacement: 1998 cc
* Compression: 9.6:1
* Power: 155 hp (114 kW) @ 6000 rpm
* Torque: 139 ft·lbf (188 N·m) @ 4500 rpm
* Redline: 6800 rpm

2006+ Honda Civic Si
* Displacement : 1998 cc
* Compression : 11.0:1
* Power: 197 bhp (147 kW) @ 7800 rpm (sae NET Rev 8/04)
* Torque: 139 ft·lbf (189 N·m) @ 6200 rpm (sae NET Rev 8/04)
* Redline: 8200 rpm

As you can see, the civic si has a higher compression ratio, and a much higher redline
