Default Determining sale value?

I just bit the bullet and bought a pick up so I can tow my boat. I have to sell my beloved 1991 Accord Wagon EX and need to get some input on the asking/selling price.

It is one of the nicest ones I have seen in a long time with no rust and no major issues at all. It looks good, runs and shifts great and has been very well cared for. Inside is very clean and the outside has a few minor dings from parking lots. It has 214,000 miles and I replaced the timing belt, water pump, shocks and tires at 207K. It has the roof rack, sun roof and power mirrors, doors and windows plus AC, auto sport **** and the rear cargo curtain. It is 100% stock and unmolested except I replaced the in dash radio with a CD/Radio that has the AUX input plug.

How much should I expect to get for it? I'm in NY but the car lived all it's life in Washington state and no salt.

Suggest checking ebay and craigslist for sales of similar models.

A few years ( 5-6) back I sold my 1990 Accord EX in similar condition for $1500. I would think you're worth at least that much, but a SW is not most popular model for younger folks who are primary market for a low cost car.

I have kept my 1994 EX as a "spare car' because I like it and it provides a backup when other car is down for repairs. If you ever get in a bind, this can be very helpful, but insurance is the big cost ($700-$800 per year) for liability and Uninsured Motorist.

good luck

While it is in very nice condition and has had parts replaced, I would excpect a maximum of $1,500. But I think $1,000 is more realistic.

The fact of the matter is its 21 years old with 217k miles.

2 years ago I paid $1,500 for my 95 with 160k miles.

Keep in mind KBB is national ASKING PRICE of dealers and has no bearing on the real value or sales price of cars.
Edmunds TMV is more realistic.

KBB website lets you choose from a few different options. Choose "private seller" instead of "Retail". Or look at the different choices vs. what you're actually doing.

Reach down to your pocket price and let them have it..then if they don't except your price-counter offer and then walk if they wont give you a better sale price..Don't forget---your the one with the money in that pocket..
