At Shell I get an extra 3 cents per gallon off the pump price for using a Shell CC. This has been going on since last October. The deal was suppose to end on Feb 28th, but they extended it.

 

You should call your card's customer service and see why it's only 3ยข. Tell them CitiCard's got 5% for Shell cards.

 

I use Valero and have bought fuel all over Texas from them. If you pay with pennies or American Express it's all the same price. I don't believe you are correct at all. +11 cents for using a credit card? Bull, they would close within one month.

 

corect. I've had this for a year or two.

valero...only tanked up there once...mileage dropped 30%. never again.

 

Maybe not in Texas? The sign is very clear, it shows two prices...cash and credit.

 

Most gas stations are owned by independant franchises, all they have to do is buy the gas from oil company they are branding. As long as the stations who do charge more for credit cards volume doesn't drop too much it wouldn't matter what the price is unless it violates any laws

 

So since you pretty much called bs on me, here is evidence of what I say is true and that you spoke on something you are not fully aware of. Thank you very much.

I would think that it would just make gas stations more attractive to rob since you know they are going to have quite a bit of cash on hand.

 

Yeah, it is! That day I took the pic I went to shell and filled up for 3.55 with a ccd. The crazy thing is, for a while valero didn't advertise the two prices and when you got to the pump all a sudden you were paying more than advertised. It's not until a few weeks ago they started advertising cash and ccd price.

i mostly fill up at RaceTrac; but do fill up in Valero as well

never have i heard of someone charging a premium for using a CC; however there's the opposite like krogers/walmart/etc that give discounts for being a member..
