Seems like ever since I got this car from my brother, it's just hated me. When I first got it, it started over heating. Whatever, I replaced the thermostat and let all the air of the coolant system. The next day, the timing belt snapped. Awesome. After replacing the timing belt, we find it's got bent valves. This just keeps getting better, you see. One new head later, it doesn't run right, much timing adjustment later, so it runs right, the trans starts slipping....

FML. Anyone else have terrible car luck?

 

And it now sits in a Junk Yard with all the rest of the Dodge Aspens..whoaaa Nelli..did I say Dodge Aspen..sure did didn't I...

Sadly it's not in the junkyard. My dad's actually taking it and giving me his Focus, he's going to just trade it in like a week for a brand new Subaru, we know it's worth almost nothing, but we're just getting rid of it.

 

Well, you could make the case that with 300k on the odometer, the car really didn't owe you anything.

That said, was your brother careful with maintenance? Was the timing belt overdue when it snapped? The bent valves are a result of the snapped timing belt, too. Automatic transmission? 300k isn't bad for an auto.

 

No, he wasn't good with maintenance on it. I think the oil was changed somewhat close to regularly. The car ran like a champ when I got it... lol. I beat the **** out of it so badly by now. It's been jumped twice, taken corners faster than it should have, driven through corn fields, such like that. Lol!

 

i have bad luck like that with my cars (always have) I have had mine for 5 years now and she is running rough but still running. I certainly don't keep up with the maintenance on it. I am nearly at 300,000 myself. another 150 miles or so.
