Default Don't Get It

I've got the 06 Honda EX L 3.0. Runningest V-6 I've ever seen. It think it would outrun that old 05 Accord V-6 Hybrid. But here lately, these 4 bangers are getting the drop on me! The other day it was a Chevy Cruz that gave me fits, today a 4-dr. Mitsubishi with loud muffler. 4 cylinders outrunning a V-6? I don't get it! However, in both cases, it was just in traffic and both cars were already ahead of me in line. I gotta feeling give me a quarter mile, cars both lined up, the tables just might turn. That Accord isn't a slouch and has plenty of zip.

Sometimes I wonder if I should downgrade to a 4 banger. I don't think so.
Hondas are the most popular, most stolen, and last! I'll keep it.

Well not every 6 cylinder is going to be faster than every 4 cylinder.

Take a look at the 94-97 Accords, the V6 was actually slower than the non vtec 4 cylinder.

Also your 6 cylinder Accord would get wiped up by a 4cyl Evo, STI, or Eclipse GSX. And those are just stock cars.

Ha! Wow, what a bragging post! I kinda doubt it, pal. You don't know what this car of mine does. This is an 06 not a 94-97. The 4 banger was already ahead of me in traffic, not beside me in a regulation race. Had it been reversed, he'd have watched my pretty tail lights sail in to yon sunset.

Wake up time, coffee's on.

"Boost is the replacement for displacement". If they're not turbocharged you can catch them on top end, and usually the 4cyl n/a will have less hp but also lighter than the 6.

I'm not saying your v6 is slower than the 4cyl accord, but there are plenty of 4cylinders out there that will beat it.

The 2006 V6s run mid to high 14s 1/4 miles

Which is pretty quick for a stock economy car.

My accord back when it had a H22 in it ran the same as your v6. And now with nitrous it will run faster.

And stock Mitsubishi Evos run low to mid 13s.

I'm guessing your old school and think just bc you have a bigger engine means your faster..

That has not been the case for atleast 10 years now.

Welcome to earth, may you live a long and prosperous life..

Yeah, I'm jealous of my friend's new 2011 Kia Optima SX in black with the sport wheels.

It has a 2.0 liter turbo engine that makes 274 HP stock.

It's amazing what they are doing with smaller and smaller engines these days.

Also FYI

The 06 civic si with a 2.0 4cyl runs the same time your 3.0 v6 does

PS power to weight ratio does not discriminate by size of a engine.

200hp at 2700lbs is faster than 200hp at 3000lbs

197hp at 2,877lbs(civic) vs. 244hp at 3,371
1:14.6(power:weight). 1:13.8(power:weight)

With that math, this should make your confusion disappear
