I must warn you that the headline of that article is grossly misleading. Read the entire article, because a very important question is finally answered -- how much did the Fed dole out (put US citizens on the hook for) during the financial crisis of 2008-9? Answer: $7.7 trillion.

To whet your appetite a bit, here's the first paragraph of the article:

"The Federal Reserve and the big banks fought for more than two years to keep details of the largest bailout in U.S. history a secret. Now, the rest of the world can see what it was missing."

Believe me when I say that the world "missed" a great deal.
