Let's not forget gas is a nonrenewable resource and ethonol is a renewable resource. Let's not waste something that takes thousands of years to create and use the alternative, which could take just a year or two. Yeah it will help farmers and raise the prices of crops, but wouldn't you rather support farmers than those top dog oil companies.

"A favourite trick here at Tesla Motors is to invite a passenger along and ask him to turn on the radio. At the precise moment we ask, we accelerate. Our passenger simply can’t sit forward enough to reach the dials."
...stays powerful beyond 13,000 rpm.

A simple solution to the gasoline "crisis" or whatever you want to call it: Drill for oil in the Alaskan Tundra. There is supposedly tons and tons of oil up there, but the environmentalists won't let anybody drill for it. They say it would be harmful to the caribou, or reindeer, whatever the hell they call them. Even although they are overpopulated anyway and dying of starvation. But...yeah....lets "save the caribou" and leave all that oil up there untouched. If America started dipping into our own oil up in Alaska...the price of gas would probablyplummet because America wouldn't have to buy gas from the oil sheiks over in the middle east, therefore causing them to lower thier price if they want to sell any oil to the US.
I doubt we will see a true replacement for gasoline in our lifetime. Didn't they try natural gas in the 70's?

What about the oil we use to lube our engines with? I'm sure that since we're so technologically advanced that we would be able to come up with something that is more environmentally friendly. It might take a helluva long time for R&D but it should be looked into.
