Default END TO SCAMMERS ???

Ok members,,,, time for INPUTS.

I might reeeeeally be stepping out of turn here ...But here it goes ...

I was thinking about this scamming thing and i came up with an idea..

How about if a member here at HAF would volunteer , One with a lot of credibility of course, and time at hands , to be a middle man for our buying and selling section.. He ( she ) of course would be paid ,,one way to make a bit of extra money
,,
I was thinking 10% of the total cost of the transaction , to be shared 5% from the byuer 5% from the seller ,+ shipping costs ...How much is peace of mind worth ???

seller would send the item to this person and buyer would sent a money order made to the seller's name , to the same person,,No credit card, no personal checks ,, when he ( she ) has received both ,, then he ( she ) will ship the items and the money accordingly ..

this might reassure people to make transactions with peace of mind and that they will be getting the item or the money back ..

This should eliminate scammers once and for all. .right ??

let's hear it.... PROS and CONS ..

yeah I know ,, Ebay ,, but paypal at ebay sucks ..

I would say thats a pretty good idea, but only really useful for expensive items. But that may turn people away who do not want the hassle of sending it to a middle man,not to mention it will take more time and if the middle man has other things to do...then it goes on. But I think it cases where the sellers are new, or suspcious it would be a good idea.

Sounds like a good attempt, but I'd have to guess that it'd be pretty hectic to start up and go through with it.

Dunno... it's a difficult topic.

I think it'd be worth it to offer as a service. Not a requirement. It would cost a bit extra and add a few days onto shipping but as you stated it would ensure that the transactions went smoothly.

so basically the money is held in escrow. However it would open up scammers from the buying side. As lets say someone buys something... it is shipped... they buyer recieves it, but claims he never got it. or he got an empty box, or something to that extent. the empty box thing would be even better, because that would cancel out any sort of tracking number the seller has. Then you really have no way of proving either side, and what do you do then?

if you shipped fedex it would show the weight of the package on the reciept as well as a tracking number. If you wanted further protection take pictures of it in the box.

that's why DH said "one with a lot of credability," it would have to be someone that's fairly well known and credable on here.
