Lol I hear ya. NJ seems to be a drive how ya want and get away with it place since we have the cards and radar dectors being legal lol. But people with radar dectors get slammed with obstruction of view tickets. My friend got pulled over at like 3a.m. and got a 55$ ticket for obstruction of view because he had a pine tree air freshner on his windshield mirror lol. Thats what i call BS!

lol thats really sucks but about the radar thing many people have it also here but most officers including myself don't really care for them i mean the radar only works if i am using my radar so whats the point of having one if 75% of cops here have theirs turn off...if i see them doing something wrong then i pull them over if their giving me a hard time ill give him a hard time also...

Word of advice for next time:

If you get pulled over for speeding, tell the officer you want to see his radar showing the speed you were clocked at. Otherwise, you have a defense in court.

Just ask for Court Supervision and drive safe, it won't be on your driving record. Sure, it'll be like $125 for the speeding ticket but it's worth it.

I have never dealt with the new driving laws on underage kids, so I don't know how to help on having an extra passenger in the vehicle. Pending on the state's attorney, they might drop it. I've had several dropped that were minor infractions like not yielding or using a signal, or a stop sign.

You'll be fine kid, it could be worse.

Does he have to show me the radar if I ask to see it? Because the last thing i need is the cop getting in my face yelling.

fight it. its always worth it.

wear a suit, or at least something dressy, come with maps of the area, diagrams of where you were and where the cop was, photo evidence of a gps speed and your speedometer, everything you can think of thats even related to the incident. Chances are the cop will come with nothing but the police report (which you should get too) and a extremely vague recollection of the events that occurred. you stand a pretty good chance of getting the ticket dropped, or at least the fine reduced and no points off your license.

my sister fought a moving violation ticket in court, came with nothing but the ticket, and got the fine split in half. of course she never paid the half-fine and eventually got her license taken away, but thats beside the point.

my dad had a friend who got caught speeding by an aircraft once. the way it works is they have lines painted on the side of the road, and a dude in a helicopter times how long it takes your car to get from one line to another, and they can base the cars speed off of that. well they used a mechanical stopwatch to time the cars (this was the early 80s). Before his court date he prepared a big presentation for court that proved that the reaction time of a person hitting the start and stop button can throw off the speed by a certain margin, and that the type of stopwatch they used was fairly inaccurate to begin with. The combination of these two factors could throw speed off significantly (or he argued). Before he even started his presentation in court, the judge dropped the ticket because it would tie up the court systems too much.

fight it, its worth it.

And what happens when you lose if you try to fight it? I heard you have to pay even more money.

Dude, i know you're 17, but that's no excuse to not use PUNCTUATION...

Sorry, I read half of your first post, and then tried to use context clues from everyone else's posts. Then I saw your response(s) and decided enough is enough... God it's like reading vomit from the mouth.

Well it seems nobody else had a problem reading the post or complained about it so if your not going to say anything that is related to it than dont reply. Thanks.

If you lose, you wont pay more. You just end up being guilty and spending more time than if you would have just plead guilty at first.

Im telling you from experience, just get court supervision for so many months or take the driving class offer. This way your insurance wont rise in premium and you won't get points on your driving record.

EDIT: I should stop using apostrophes.
