I have only one thing to say to you - fast food joints and American beer. [That's two things]

 

My motoring is mostly leisure driving in our national parks. 500 miles on a weekend quite common.

 

I put about 18,000 in a year of owning my accord. I'm guessing this year I'll put maybe 25k? I commute to grad school twice a week about 150 miles round trip. Thank god the accord gets pretty good mpg. No way I could have done that commute in my former vehicle. I was lucky to get 14 mpg on the freeway. Luckily my job is probably 5 miles away and the school I sub at is at most 5 miles away. The gym is probably 10 miles though, sigh, but it's a good gym.

 

I've avg about 12.5k a year since I got my car. I've only put 88k on the car since I got it in 01.

 

I guess that since you fit the profile, we can make you an honorary Brit.

 

Prior to retirement, I taught in what you would call grad. school I think [ my students were taking Hon. degrees ] . You obviously value education and appreciate that sacrifices are inevitable. Good luck with your studies !

One of my aunts is from England though, 60 some years old and still has her accent.

 

I recently spent a week in the UK and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Transportation Museum in Coventry is well worth seeing.All of the people we met were very nice and wanted to know all about Texas thinking it it a large desert.........far from it mate.My lady is from Coventryoriginally and enjoyed returning "home".

Since I'm a retired old fart I drive only 2500-3000 miles annually. Cheers!
