As part of a lecture, or for other work?

never actually lectured in Chemistry. That came later in life in Business Management. Worked as an Industrial Chemist for decades. Raschig rings - in a commissioning team for a new petrochemical complex. Putting together a rather dodgy process [dodgy in the sense of explosions if the system was not purged properly] of catalytic "burning" ethylene oxide to mixed glycols.

Excellent. Consider me green with column envy.
Mine is a paltry four feet.
My father is retired from his business as an industrial combustion engineer. I worked for him (somewhat) in my youth, and I am familiar with the explosion scenario you describe. Last week he did a startup for dow chem. in tennessee (semi retired, I guess) with no problems. I can't imagine a chemical engineer being allowed to play with fire! The few chemists I have met personally should stick to theory. Dow won't let their guys touch the combustion equipment before it is running and stabilized.

We are sunny and 82 degrees f. here with a light breeze.
Stick that in your foggy ****![&:]

If you doubt the power of a curse from the Norse gods, check with RTexasF. Not a sheep sacrifice in your case but a goat. Expect 3feet of snow tomorrow.

By what perverse technique are your ladies to be sacrificed?
I have technology to heat the entire lattitude. That would be 24 degree lat. N. Send me the snow. In fact, "snow" is always present in certain bars here, come to think of it.

The snow will be psychological and will enter your dreams becoming a everlasting nightmare.

THANK YOU NORSE GODS, THANK YOU!!!!
It's 68 degrees and WINDY! That'll teach those yachtys! The sailboat races might be postponed
which would suck for me(they will sit around drinking Mount Gay rum all day and be real arseholes by evening).

Please say the raschigrings you used were larger in size than the 3/8" diameter ones I have. I'm sure
there was some headspace in the column, but 425 cubic feet of rings is huge!
Home distillation of fusel alcohols is perfectly legal here, though 25 by 4 with associated burners would
be rubbing the authorities' noses in it.

How did your ladies scream to rile the Gods so well?
