sounds like the guy got stung in the dick by a bee ..... you are all welcome for that mental picture!!!
Awake, sober, no hangover. Weird, the keyboard is sharp and clear again.
"Buzzcocks" where to start ? Full prog name is "Never mind the Buzzcocks" named after a Brit band from the Sex Pistols era but far superior to those talentless riff-raff. It is a sort of quiz about pop but absolutely vicious to the pretentious guests and the performers featured. Two pro-comedians as team captains. It is p...-your-pants funny. You must start a campaign to get it over there, you wont regret it I promise.
Just discovered that some bugger drank my bottle of brandy last night !

Two news items you could help me with in my ignorance .
1. These primaries - what's that all about ? Hilary Clinton ? A word of caution from your wise old uncle. We had a female Prime Minister a while back and she ensured that it will be a long time before we have another. She had her nice little war [Falklands] and butchered Northern England [ famous for me ! ] which has always supported the opposition. Anyone can get elected in the North if they stand as Socialist. Recently, a coastal town a few miles further down the coast held an election for a mayor. A monkey was elected [explanation : the local football team had a monkey [guy in a suit] as team mascot and he ran around the field and made a general **** of himself. Why a monkey I hear you ask. Prepare yourself for some Northern folklore which may be truth [ I would like it to be ! ]
" The Day We Hung The Monkey"
During the Napoleonic Wars against France, a ship was wrecked off the coast of Hartlepool. The only survivor who struggled to shore was a pet monkey. The peasants had never seen a monkey before and obviously couldn't understand it's frightened chatter. They decided it was speaking French even though they had never heard French being spoken before. They then decided that it must be a French spy. In due course, a trial was held, the monkey was found guilty, and sentenced to death by hanging.
How about that, then ?
The second news item was that the UK standard of living will be higher than yours by summer. Now my standard of living is not noticably higher so I assume that yours must be getting lower. True ? In which case, what's going on ?

also, @LX5sp: your 7 times more likely to shoot your own family member than shoot an intruder if you have a gun readily available to shoot intruders. if (when) I own a gun, ill keep it either in a lock box somewhere safe out of my house, or in a not-so-obvious-to-be-a-gun-safe safe in the basement. most likely the 2nd.
That's why I keep a flashlight next to the gun. I would never shoot at anything unless I knew EXACTLY what it was. I guess that is just something they teach us southern boys when we were growing up with guns as youngsters. I bet that 7x more likely figure is based more on the un-gun-safety-trained yankees in the north. No experienced redneck would ever shoot at anything unless he knew what it was. Most of the time when you hear about those "hunting accidents" where someone was shot - itinvolves either a woman whohas only been hunting a few times and is trigger happy, some kid who has only been hunting a few times and is trigger happy, or some guy from up north who has only been hunting a few times and is trigger happy. Don't even get me started on Dick Cheney.
What in the crap is the point of keeping a gun in the house if you can't use it iif someone breaks in? You would look pretty smartif an intruder broke in and killed you while you were attempting to open your safe. or while you were telling him to hold still while you loaded your gun.

academic, the monkey story if great. I think I may have heard that before a long time ago.

I'm not sure what you mean about your "standard of living" being higher? What do you mean?
I am not at all for Hillary. That woman is insane.

Not sure how "Standard of Living" is measured. I think it is an artificial concept dreamed up by those pseudo-scientists, economists. It's something to do with excess available income over expenditure.
About that news item. Log on to www.mirror.co.uk and you can see front page in question. You can also see cartoons and all sorts of goodies including daily dose of Andy Capp who is commemorated in "monkey" Hartlepool - there has been a bronze statue erected of him to honour the writer who was a Hartlepool man.

I would never vote for hilary clinton either, for a couple of reasons:
#1) shes married to an ex-president. We need to stop all these family dynasties in office. the reason we elect a new president every 4/8 years is to get someone FRESH in office. I dont want hilary carrying out something bill never had time to do.
#2) trying not to be sexist here, but genetically speaking women tend to let their emotions rule over their decisions more than men. Now I have no problem having a woman in office, but before I vote for her I want to know she isn't going to let her emotions run the show AND shes not going to expect any special treatment. (like most women are accustomed to getting) I just get the feeling from hilary that she isn't entirely capable of either.

Thanks but what is a Primary FOR, what is it supposed to DO ? Is it an election about who should stand in a real election ?
Forgive my ignorance but I think the weakness in the system is that you end up with a politicianas Head of State and, as we all know, they are the most honest and competent people on the planet.

Bit more breaking news. A new law has just past parliament - a new driving offence "Causing death by dangerous driving" dangerous driving including use of mobile phone, drinking, speeding, doing your make-up, get the picture ? 5 years in the nick. So this offence is sort-of the same as man slaughter. About bloody time on mobile phones and drunks. i would rate drink or drugged driving on a par with premeditated murder.
