Thanks but what is a Primary FOR, what is it supposed to DO ? Is it an election about who should stand in a real election ?
Forgive my ignorance but I think the weakness in the system is that you end up with a politician as Head of State and, as we all know, they are the most honest and competent people on the planet.
the democratic and republican parties dont want their votes spread across multiple canditates. They hold primary elections to decide who from each party will be representing that party as a presidential candiate. If your not choosen from the primaries, you can always run as an independent, you just dont have any party backing. which imo wouldnt be a bad thing.

The whole concept of an electorial college is retarded. In the states, the REAL election doesn't pick the president. The REAL election determines which party the electorial college represents for that state, which should vote in the expected manner. They don't have to though. The number of electorial votes for a state is equal to the number of representatives and senetors that state has in Washington DC. This way, there is an easy way for our election to be corrupted in case they can't get the job done in the public election like Dubyah's brother did in Florida. Gotta love our version of democracy!!!!

Oh .... and about the woman in office thing. I'd be scared $h!+less if a woman had the power to launch our nuclear arsenal! 25% of the time they don't think straight!!!

they always do though. that last time even 1 electoral college person picked someone other than the person they were represented to pick was back in the 50s or something.

Just thought i would cheer you up with one of today's headlines :
"US warns Iran : Next time we will sink boats." National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley insisted any more aggression would result in shots being fired.

Iran's intent is to provoke a US action so that they can claim to have been attacked by you. Dont fall for it !
Inside the paper one of the columnists notes the smugness of the Democrats. Because Hillary Clinton is a woman and Barack Obama is black, they are convinced that they offer a radical alternative to Bush's macho politics. Yet who was the calculating brain behind Bush ? Who is both black and female ?
Fill in your own answer.

Beautiful area. I note there is no mention of the fog that covers the moors so heavily even the locals become disoriented. Not the best picture for tourism I suppose.

Can you remember the movie "American Werewolf in London", remember the pub on the moor "The Slaughtered Lamb" and the fog. The real name is The Tan Hill Inn [try Google Earth - feed in Yorkshire dales and then tan Hill ] The pub sign made for the movie is displayed behind the bar. I have had many brilliant nights in there [bikers hang-out]. it is also on the Coast-to-Coast cycle route - very popular

Looks georgous!!! As for Dubyah, I'd say that he thinks all of the time, just that his thought process doesn't go much farther than a monkey's. What he can think through are ways to screw the american public to make himself, his family and his cohorts more money .... for the record, I voted against him.

Anyway, dont be a wimp. Fog is good for the complexion and keeps the moor green. if you do Google, there are two more film sets to find in that area. Both from Robin hood, prince of thieves [ Kevin Costner, s****er] First - remember the fight scene with Little John in the river - google to Aysgarth Falls. Second - remember Maid marion catching Robin in the nude having a bath near a water fall - google to Hardraw. No prize on offer for finding them, just the satisfaction of being a movie nerd.
