How often do you floor your car?

RE: How often do you flour your car?
Having been a Honda driver for 26 years now, I've always been underthe impression that they like being driven hard, and don't like being babied. And by driving hard, I don't mean beating it. Flooring it isn't beating it, in my book.
I must admit to hitting the rev-limiter every once in a while. Scares the cheese outa me 'til I realize what happened. 1st gear just winds up so fast, and by the time I'm checking my tach, it's like running into a wall. But the embarassment wears off fast, about half way thru 2nd.
I suppose it may put extra strain on the timing belt to be 'flouring' the motor often. But if the car's already rolling, I can't see that it puts that much strain on the drivetrain.
Good thread. Makes ya think.

How bad is it that I floor my car almost everytime I drive? I do try and keep it under 5k rpm though.

Maybe once every week, Prboly less then that. But its hard to get tried of the vtec, and the sound. I can do it all day and night still not get tried. PLus the damn engine pulls thourgh the high rpms like it was born to be there. I never feel it getting tired itself. Like the engine laughs and me and then stays come on kid you can rev me a little higgher then that dont be scared i wont break on ya. ill just eat your gas up. Kinda like a devil tempting me or something,Only if the accords could rev higher 7,000 would be awsome.

I never floor it. I learned long ago that the more I beat a car, the more it beats me - in the wallet. Particularly tires, suspension and brakes.
But "I have this friend" who owned a 91 Toyota Camry 4 cyl. He rodded the thing everytime he drove it and, beyond routine maintenance,he never had a problem with it. I was amazed.
He sold it to one of his friend's daughters about a year ago, and she's not had a single problem with it, either.
When I rent a vehicle, however, it gets the living shiite kicked out of it. All that pent-up hot-rodder in me, I guess.
(BTW, never buy a used rental vehicle.)

Honda engines are meant to be pushed...actually, the whole concept of VTEC was economized supercar. And frankly, I think they have achieved that. So touch that rev limiter! Let it roar!
