Camaro's are definitely not on my list of favorite cars. Chevy seems to always be behind mustang by a few years. Mustangs came out in '64, Camaros didn't come out till '67. the new Mustang body style started in '05, the new camaro body style won't be available till '09. Seems to me like they have to watch Ford to see what they do, then try to do the same thing with their own car. The2005 Mustang brought back the styling from the 60's. Now look what happened. Chevy is copying their idea, and Dodge is too with the new challenger.
I can see your point. However, this is true with each brand for different products. Like when Mopar created the gear reduction starter...now look, every vehicle has one. Mopar created the Hemi. Go to a drag strip and under the top fuelers will be Hemi motors no matter what the emblem says on the body.

I do see what you mean though and how it is annoying, but then again, wouldn't it be somewhat cool to see all three of the new generation old school muscle cars cruising together? I think that would be a cool sight to see!

Yes, Ford invented the pony car and the rebirth of the new age muscle car[sm=hail.gif]
Happy now[8D]?!?!?!

i have a 98' Accord Coupe EX 5MT with H22A swap, ram air intake, 2.5" test pipe, i walk away fast from any pre 99 Stang GT, the 2000-2005's though are a drivers race, i've pulled on a couple, and i've been walked by a couple by a couple car lengths...

What are your power numbers? I wouldn't be suprised if you had trouble with a 5.0 5 speed notch.

i would never mind owning the cobra . i personally think domestic vehicles aim all towards track times, just stop and go straight, while japanese imports aim towards more handling and getting the most power out of a smaller engine. In the long run, it all depends what you enjoy personally

I have to disagree with some of your points there. Yes chevy jumped on the pony car wagon a few years after ford but in my opnion chevy always tops the mustang in peformance, and if you take care of the camaro it will run like a beast just like a mustang and sorry dude camaro owners do not resemble joe dirt. People who look like Joe Dirt resemble Joe Dirt no if's and's or but's there. The Camaro is my opnion a far more superior car then a Mustang and always has been however I do give credit where credit is due. The Mustang is a beast of a car and they are pretty quick so it pretty much comes down to your own opnion chevys are cheaper to mod and easier as well so go test drive both and choose from there
Yeah I know I am really mustang biased since my first car was a 90 5.0 GT 5spdhaha! But I test drove a few camaro's that had been ragged out and were slower than my dad's 90 Buick! I never drove a ragged out mustang, so I just always stayed away from Camaros since I had always been disappointed. I was just picking with the "Joe Dirt" comment haha. There are plenty...and I mean PLENTY of Mustang drivers who also resemble Joe Dirt. My cousin actually used to have a 69 Camaro that he drag raced. I was so young I never asked what was in it (I was only 13 or so when I rode in it.) Ithad a manual trans and it was the fastest thing I have ever ridden in. It was actually scary how fast it was. He had it set up for full on drag racing. I don't think it was street legal. I'm not sure if he was running 1.8 mile or 1/4 mile. M\y cousin did have a mullet and a mustache at the time though hahahaha!

H22 = 200 hp 156ft lb torque
your mods maybe add 10hp max
you car weighs 2976 lbs (possibly more with the H22 swap)

Stock 1990 Mustang GT = 225 hp and 300 ft lbs torque
it weighs 3191 lbs

You were either racing Mustang drivers who didn't know how to drive, or they were not really racing you at all. They were quite possibly bluffing you trying to entice you to race them for money.

He may have raced the early SN95 stangs (94-98)....those were kind of turds bone stock. I think they had about the same power as the late foxes, but those 3.08 gears really didn't help.
