I've never been a huge fan of the mustang just because for the market it's in they don't handle as well. That however can be changed with relative ease. Go to a small circle track of some sort and watch the compact class of racing, you'll see a bunch of pinto's and mustangs. If I recall you can use the leaf springs off of a Jeep or bronco (one of the two) and slap them right into the mustang. An older mustang with an upgraded suspension and stripped interior would probably run like a rocket. Personally though I prefer either an old corvette or porsche (yeah I know they are a lot more expensive...). But in that price range (older fast cars) I've always wanted an older T-Top Datsun 280Z.

I know this is going to go somewhere it shouldn't but I'll say it anyway.... on a whole ford's reliability doesn't compare to Toyota or Honda, but to be fair ford did put out a few vehicles that do run very strong and are very reliable and comprable to most honda's.

What i ment to stay is that the suspension is old age, Out of date i mean for god skakes they have a live rear axle. and a 4.6L only makes 300hp and a 4.0L v6 that makes a WHOPPING 210hp doesnt really seem lke there pushing there car to the limits.

I'm just talking reliability from personal experience, nothing more.
I know most 5.0 Mustang owners are mustache-faced, mullet wearing rednecks, but I respect the car as I know how much potential they have from personal experience.
The author was asking for feedback on Mustangs, so I gave him my real world experienced feedback. Also, accord4sroy, you really need to test drive a standard trans mustang. It is like a completely different car.
But I'll end with this: If I want a gas saving, reliable, fun little car,I'll stick with my Honda.
If I want to go fast and pay out the @$$ for gas (I guess it's rhyme time!), I'll get another Mustang. But I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I get the urge every year, ok, SEVERAL times a year, for a new Mustang GT. 300 HP stockon 87 octane is pretty damn good in my opinion. When set up with the right color combination, wheels, tires, and exhaust I think it's a hot looking well performing ride.
