RE: mustang gt
LOL .... a buddy of minee has a '96 Cobra that's been off the road for a few years while he mods/fixes it ....... this is the crazy master machinist ...... he has a full Bassani exhaust on that thing as well as tons of other mods including a Diablo Sport controller and a 200 wet spray. THAT is a sweet sounding V8 ..... even with the silencers!!! Without the silencers, he's so loud that cops would drive half a mile to give him a noise violation!!!!

RE: mustang gt
In high school, I drove a mustang owned by a friend. The car was a 20th anniversary edition, and he had bore/stroked, intake(d) and headered/exhausted(with cutoff) ,and race tranny'd the thing. It would do donuts like crazy, and then snap my neck on the way to 165 mph.
Mos def not an accord.
Hewrecked it.

Sounds pretty darn fast! Yeah, those speedo's used to up to 110 or 120 I heard, but the ones from 87-89 I hear only went up to 85.
I have to admit the Accord is one fun to drive car though. You can't compare an Accord to a Mustang, but you can definitely say it kicks the Taurus in the behind! Accord all the way!
Thanks to everyone for their comments on this thread. I would love to hear more!

Dang that sucks about the spark plug prices!
One more thing I wanted to say. If I were to buy a Mustang right now, I would buy either a 90-92 5.0 (preferably LX because it's lighter) or a 2005 or newer. The ones in the middle of those yearsdid not impress me as much. The only way I would buy one in the middle of those years would be if it was a steal of a deal[sm=proof.gif]. I actually only paid $4500 for my 1990 GT 5.0 5spd back in 1999. It had 80,000 miles on it. It was a steal of a deal. I paid $5000 for my 91 5.0 LX auto convertible after the 90 was totaled in a wreck (not my fault.) It had 100k miles on it. They are steadily increasing in value.
Oh yeah....the 1990 and newer speedo's went up to 140, just like the Accord. Ifyou wanted to take that into consideration. Haha! I was just thinking about an 87 that I test drove one time - it was actually an auto, but it ran pretty fast. The car actually seemed much faster because the speedometer moves twice as fast since it tops out at 85.

RE: mustang gt
I do love the efficiency, handling, and just about everything with my Accord. Having said that I grew up in the day of the GTO 389 Tri Power, Mopar 440 & 426 Hemi, Chevy 396 & 427,Ford 390 & 460,Olds 455,and on and on. They were all straight line rides and didn't brake or turn worth a damn.....scary in fact. Wheelbrokerremembers those days too I betcha.
To this day I still miss the rumble and sheer tire shredding power (bias ply tires in those days youngins) of those monsters. The thought of driving a modern, affordable, well handling, well mannered ride with a 5 or 6 speed (6 preferred)and 300-400 HP really turns me on. Not an exotic with $6000 oil changes but American Muscle. I'll have one before I croak, mark my words. I may only be able to look at it but I'll have one.
