Everybody please don't get me wrong on this thread. I am NOT a Mustang worshipper, nor do I think they are the fastest cars on the road. I do feel that they are probably the best bang for the buck though.
I almost forgot to mention this... On an episode of Pinks, there was this guy running a 5.0 Mustang with a CHEVY engine in it! That is an abomination! He should be crucified for that.

Yeah, some of the Mustangs on Pinks aren't really that fast compared to the other cars they race. People that love their Mustang can really make it look real nice and drive real fast though!

The upkeep on those cars is a lot though. I feel like you can drive it in the winter, but not the way it should be driven. Lots of good insights on this thread though! Glad I started it.

I notice the bad guys on Walker Texas Ranger (I think one episode, but might have been more) drive Mustangs. Random thought.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=120737 The hemi only belongs in a Mopar or Cunningham...none of that Chevy stuff. Blah. Mopar baby!
I dont understand why people switch makes of engines in their cars. If you have to put another engine in your car from another company it really isnt cool....itjust says whatever brand you are driving sucks.

I wouldn't go that far. Different manufacturers have different strengths and weaknesses. A 240SX with a mustang 5.0 combines a Japanese car that can be made to handle like it's on rails with good 'ole American muscle! That's one hell of a car!

Old thread, but couldnt pass it up.
I love road racing my stang and taking it to the drag strip. Doesnt take much to make them handle well, and going straight is easy

I can only speak from my own experience, but the 90-92 5.0 Mustang (manual trans) is frickin fast. The 87-89 should be the same
i agree...friend had 87 GT 5 speed in high school days...very quick
