Default OIL

Everyone I talk to always has a diferent opinion on what oil is "The Best" oil to use. So I thought it would be fun to see what HAF members have to say about which oil is THE BEST for Honda's

(also [if you have an opinion] what weight or"viscosity" ofoil do you feel is the best for Honda's?)

I do hope that 15W40 is meant as a joke!

There is no "best" as far as I'm concerned. I choose Mobil 1 because I prefer synthetics. It's a well known product that works well, available everywhere, and comes as factory fill in cars I'll never be able to afford.

Nope no joke.....

I use it for my Mazda, Honda, and Ford cars. Thicker oil provides better protection.Treat your carby adding 1/2 to 1 qt more than suggested.

That is a myth that just won't die! Just like the 3000 mile oil change it simply does not apply. To each his own, I'll stick with 0W20 synthetic for my car and 5W30 synthetic for my gal's 'Yota.

Bobistheoilguy would be a great site for you to gain some knowledge on thick vs thin oil.

i use straight dino oil with changes every 5K. The S just like my other cars will live to see more than 150K without any major engine issues matter of fact, it might even make it to my all time record of 380K miles that was put on my 82 Chrysler 5th avenue......

using anything other than a qaulity dino oil in your every day driver is just a waste of money IMHO.

The only thing I use synthetic oil in is my Vino 125 and that is solely due to the fact that the engine spends extended time at 7K plus where the synthetic oil actually justifies the price

I've been using Royal Purple for a year and a half. Better throttle response, better mileage, etc. Since the friction is down, it would stand to reason that horsepower is up, even if only a couple.

Longer drain intervals, and better mileage makes it about the same as dino oil. If you change your filter at each oil change, and you're not changing the oil as often, you're also saving the cost of the filters.

does that mean it's a bad idea to use the "high performance" oil from gas stations?
