ok... but first i need to know if it's true that a console (let's say 12k btu) spends less energy (ohms) than the one you put on the window. In my house (not the apartment for college) I have a room w/ out a/c... it's like 12ft by 15ft plus a small bath...

The shape of the unit doesn't really matter. Look at the EER and SEER numbers to compare energy usage. The higher, the better. Window units tend to be cheaper construction than other types resulting in low EER and SEER values.

FYI - Ohms is resistance, power is energy (kW).
