RE: Pranks
not unless he has a weak heart or a pace maker or something. It will shock him and it's kinda painfull but it's not deadly or dehabilitating and since it's an electronic pulse not a constant source it won't freeze his hand to it.
I'd be willing to bet that any mechanic on here has been shocked more times than they care to recall

wow! i've never been shock w/ a plug, but i'll sure try it on my pal! he doesn't know anything about cars, so it will be pretty easy to make him fall for it...
once, i stood inthe corner of a very busy street w/ a friend and started to look up andpointing w/ our fingers at the sky (at nothing really)... we did thisfor 30min, and record it... almost everyonepassing by started to look up, looking for whatever we were aiming at... it was for a school project on how ppl were really curious... ppl in their cars were staring at the sky and everyone slowed down... pretty funny for us.... we got A's!

tell him you're having issues getting it to start, pull the plug wire off and have him hold it/look down in it to "see if it sparks..." for added effect you can slide the spark plug boot back to expose the bare connector. After it shocks him say "hmmm, well I have spark..." then pull the radiator cap off, look at it quizzically and exlaim "that's it, the radiator cap isn't holding pressure so it won't start.." ask him to run to the auto parts store for you and get a radiator cap for a 72 VW bug since it's "a direct replacement for your car and cheaper than the honda one..." When he returns from being laughed at hysterically (since VW bug's didn't have radiators back then) simply say "hm, must have been misinformed but it's okay you figured it out while he was gone, the cap just wasn't on tight...." re-assemble the parts and snicker aloud.
